Within this bunker like container was a nice smelling assortment of living herbs and flowers. The container acted as a life support system for the plants, supplying air circulation, light, water, and protection. I wanted to give these plants an existence that was autonomous from human interaction once it has been connected to the electrical grid.
This piece was originally displayed at the Stanford Art Gallery in 2000, and recreated for a show called Garden Improvement at Wavehill in 2006.
